British Wrestlers Reunion
Hi all! Privelidged to now be part of the forum. Great days! First went live wrestling in 1963 at West Ham baths, which was my local. Spencer Churchill, The Zebra Kid, Bruno Elrington, Al Miquet, Dick Conlon come immediately to mind. My late Mum and Grandmother were huge fans, and when my father died in 1978 I started taking my Mum to live wrestling to divert her mind from her bereavement. We had some wonderful nights, especially at the Royal Albert Hall from 1979 - 1981. Also Catford Town Hall, Walthamstow Assembly Hall, Woolwich Granada etc. Put on a couple of shows myself, via Dale Martin at the ACE cinema in Upton Park in 1980, top of the bill Mick McManus .v. Johnny Kwango, and got to speak to the late great Mike Marino. Also a show at the Elephant and Castle via All-Star. Now take my youngest daughter (13) and her friends to Croydon Fairfield Halls when they have shows on, courtesty of Brian Dixon (a great personality and a brilliant promoter). All in all I'd like to thank all the "old-timers" here (some not so old, certainly not as old as me!) for all the wonderful entertainment and belief over the years. Certainly helped my Mum in her grieving period, and to be honest Wayne Bridge .v. "Mighty" John Quinn was certainly worth the entrace fee alone! Good luck all wrestlers past and present, it's an honour being able to communicate with you all.
